Ambiance & landscapes
Agios Prokopios charms with its vast stretch of fine golden sand bordered by dunes and tamarisk trees. Shallow waters shift from turquoise to deep blue beneath a brilliant sky. A few hundred metres away, Agia Anna extends the scene with a more intimate curve and often calmer waters. The light north wind cools summer afternoons while sunsets tint the sky in pink and gold. Both sites retain a peaceful atmosphere despite their popularity, thanks to generous beach width and the absence of massive construction. Mediterranean vegetation and the scent of pines complete this idyllic setting.
Things to see and do
Visitors can enjoy kitesurfing and paddleboarding at Agios Prokopios, rent parasols and sun loungers or explore the natural dune reserve. At Agia Anna, the small harbour offers boat trips to the caves of Paros. The three-kilometre coastal path invites walking or cycling. You can also visit the white church of Agios Prokopios and sample fresh seafood on the beach. Photography enthusiasts will find magnificent viewpoints at sunset near the rocks.
Where to eat and drink
Beach tavernas serve grilled fresh fish, fried calamari and the famous Greek salad with local tomatoes. Try homemade tzatziki and herb-stuffed calamari. Seafront bars offer sunset cocktails and Naxos rosé wine. Several establishments provide varied meze and house bread dipped in local olive oil. Prices remain reasonable for the quality and direct sea views.
Transport & access
Both beaches are served by bus from Naxos Chora every thirty minutes in summer. Free parking is available at the entrance to Agios Prokopios. Taxis cost around ten euros from the port. Scooter or car hire makes travel between the two sites easy. Footpaths connect the beaches directly without using the road. In peak season, private shuttles serve certain luxury hotels.
