Ambiance & landscapes
El Cotillo and the north-west of Fuerteventura reveal a striking setting of steep black cliffs plunging into an intense blue sea. Long fine sandy beaches such as Playa del Cotillo stretch as far as the eye can see, bordered by shifting dunes sculpted by permanent trade winds. The landscape alternates between arid rocky zones, picturesque fishing ports and desert expanses dotted with sparse vegetation. Colours vary from golden sand to turquoise water and the red of spectacular sunsets. This preserved spot retains an authentic, wild atmosphere, far from massive constructions, with particular light that enhances every volcanic relief.
